Changing the culture

I overheard an interesting observation: "Of course the ICE riots started now. All of the college classes are dismissed and K-12 is out on summer break."

Given the medical costs of having Federal Immigration agents being injured during riots/demonstrations, it seems perfectly reasonable to me for the Feds to DEFUND the employers of Public Sector employees who are arrested for VIOLENTLY demonstrating. The defunding should be to the tune of some multiplier of annual wages and the cost of their benefits (including NPV of post-retirement medical benefits and pensions).

Many people say that it is impossible to change culture. But that is untrue. It can change so quickly that it gives you whip-lash. It is a pretty simple picture to paint. If 10% of the staff of George Custer Elementary protest and are arrested for throwing rocks, then the number of kids-per-class jumps to 40 kids. Instead of being lionized for "Speaking truth to power" those teachers who get arrested will be spat upon when they return.

Attitudes would change very, very quickly.

  1. Just turn the Marines loose on them. All of a sudden that 'fun' would stop!

    1. Do they have time to train hitting the common peroneal nerve with batons or pugil sticks? It doesn't LOOK that painful on video.

The protestors will get revolving-doored and hickory-shampoos don't play well on national TV. They need something up-close and personal to remember the encounter by, something that will not be blown-up by the communist press.

  2. Hammer their wallets! That's why the US AID shutdown was so successful. Here's another thought, if anybody arrested at the priest is required to be 'bonded' attack their bond. Got them in their wallet. Hard. There's a reason traffic courts assess hefty fines for certain moving violations. The average person has more nerve endings in their wallet than anywhere else.

  3. There are no federal misdemeanors.

Arrest and prosecute them, and once they're felons, they lose their teaching certs, and are ineligible for pretty much anything but janitorial services, or working in a carwash.

Competing with illegals for those same jobs. :)

    Karma's a bitch like that.

    1. My thinking is that the legal/justice system is too unwieldy, too slow for what is needed.

How does a Drill Instructor change the "culture" of a platoon of new recruits? He makes them self-policing by holding them all accountable.

Funding of the cushy institutions where many of these riotors work (during the non-riot season) is very vulnerable to turning down the money spigots. Maybe the money LOOKS like it is coming from the state, but they are usually the middlemen for federal money.

BTW, I enjoy both of your blogs.

    2. Perp walks. We need lots and lots of perp walks starting with every elected official that supports this insurrection. Gov Hairgel, the mayors of LA and Boston, etc.

  4. If they're caught rioting with a Mexican flag? Insurrection and invasion. If a citizen, hang them for treason, if an illegal, hang them for engaging in warfare out of uniform.

  5. Be still my beating heart! You guys are so much fun to follow! And Aesop has two ! blogs? Oh my gosh. I don't know if I'll be able to take it. Can't say I disagree with any of the comments.

  6. I don't believe you grasp the leftist mentality. Any public employee arrested for involvement in these riots will not be scorned by their colleagues. They will be feted, lionized. Viewed as martyrs.

    2. Both of the above comments are correct.

Like a union strike its fun until the strike fund is empty.

While Ego stroking is virtue signaling the resulting poverty tends to stop the party.

Problem is that they have nearly unlimited money from our miss allocated tax dollars.

  7. Let me tell you about the British experience of such riots. I speak, of course, as a moderate, well educated chap.

We didn't shoot enough of 'em.

  8. Excuse me, but the best way to stop the riots 'pronto' is to start injuring the rioters to the extent to which they are no longer capable of rioting, or at least running. The Left is going to scream about any response and label the responders as fascists. Might as well make best advantage of the negative noise.
