Her posture (crossed arms and legs) in the first image suggests that she is withdrawn and DOESN'T WANT TO BE THERE.
The man standing behind her in the first image has been accused of stabbing her but I don't see a knife or screwdriver in his hand.
Don't volunteer to be a victim. Don't wear earbuds in public places. It seems likely that he was sending hostile vibes that she didn't pick up. Part of that might have been a language barrier, she was a recent immigrant from Ukraine.
Avoid crowds. If you must go out in public, keep your head on a swivel.
Pure speculation: She may have been having a phone conversation in Ukrainian or Russian. The man may have been irritated by that. She might not have been able to understand his slang and the rising hostility might not have registered.
As to your speculation, I think there are more obvious reasons why this woman was murdered.

DeleteI don't focus on that because it is outside of my control.
What IS under my control is where I go, the times I am "out", the people I am with and keeping my situational awareness dialed-in.
I cannot influence, even in the smallest of ways, the judges and prosecuting attorney's and cops in places like Detroit and Lansing and Chicago and Jackson (Michigan). I have limited ability to mentally process and I chose to not waste it perseverating about things that are totally beyond my control.
A better rule of bum for me is “avoid stupid people in stupid places”. The world that is shaping up is one where keeping cultural enrichment and diversity at a distance will be an expensive luxury. Joe - everyone cannot move to the country, plant a garden and live happily ever after. That woman lived in the city. She probably couldn’t afford any other means of transportation. What is she to do?
DeleteFor me the fatigue is real too. I get there is nothing we can do; but something rankles. If we just shrug and ignore rising black violence and hate crime, sitting on our thumbs while innocents like this are killed just for riding the subway… what happens to us when we face our moment of cultural entitlement?
Blacks have made the subways unsafe. They’ve made it impossible for grocery stores to operate in certain neighborhoods. What other essential services will they disrupt? What happens when we can no longer “avoid crowds”?
No wonder why post here and everywhere that race is at the core (black vs White) garners so many comments. Whites are sick of it.

DeleteThe killer is a career criminal that was let out of jail by a liberal judge. He had 14 prior arrests and should have never been walking free. There should be consequences for judges that let criminals go to commit more crimes.

Her posture is that of prey. It screams weakness and fear to the feral. I have had long conversations with my love. She hates when I meet eyes with rough ones. I nod, they nod, and we carry on. She had lived alone for decades. My instinct is to warn away, hers is to flee. It's a work in progress.

People don't realize how much of "the picture" they lose when they're walking around with happy music being pumped into their heads with the volume set at 10. That, and staring into their screens at times when their heads should be owling their surroundings! Folks, SHUT THOSE DAMNED THINGS OFF!!! You DO NOT need to be ENTERTAINED every minute of your lives!!!
ReplyDeleteAs for the train's video footage, the "mayor" of Charlotte "thanked" the media for not replaying it on the air. God forbid viewers should be able to see the TRUTH about what they're up against "out there!" If the "color palette" had been reversed though, well, you know... The full, unedited video is out there though. Just do a search. It's horrifying just how quickly she went from gab to slab...

People need to wake up. I was walking with my wife and daughter and her husband in a city, along a promenade type area, and some crazy was screaming into the void while flailing his arms around, I was trying to get them to move away toward me and they were walking right next to him, completely oblivious.
The insane are DANGEROUS.
There are no nuances in this incident. The killer is a subhuman animal and should be treated in a way that makes him an example to others of his ilk. The "criminal justice" system has failed our society. It is high time for citizens to retake control and take direct action against violent criminals to re-establish civil behavior in what is supposed to be a civilized country. This extends to gangs of "yutes" ransacking stores and restaurants and to masked thugs blocking our streets as well.

ReplyDeleteThis kind of attack does not occur in Ukraine, so it is unsurprising she was not anticipating it. Vadim Kruglov was probably not expecting to get his throat slit at Burning Man, either, for the same reason. Attacks like the one on him don't occur in Russia, either.
Someone needs to provide genuine refugees a personal safety handbook.
The predatory species Ground Apus Americanus doesn't need a reason. It only needs a victim and an opportunity. Never forget that and always be prepared to meet out lethal force... because they are always willing to attack with lethal force.
