Perfect weather for working outside |
We are not watching Quicksilver today so I am making hay while the sun shines. Posting will be light.
This is the base for a three-cell rabbit jail. The base of the cages is 36" above ground and the footprint is sized to fit a 92" by 60" truck cap. The portion between the two parts, the base and the cap, will be 16" tall and each cell will be roughly 30-1/2" across by 60" long with doors on each end.
The jail will be divided into three parts that can be separated to facilitate moving and cleaning.

Tomatoes
 |
A row of Stupice tomatoes. 95% of our canned tomatoes are Stupice because they ripen early and they keep pumping out tomatoes. The losses due to snails and other wildlife were much lower on Stupice than on the Ace 55. |

The row of Ace 55. Still producing. I will plant two plants of it next year. That will be enough to keep us in BLT sandwiches with a few extra to give away. |
Coffee-break is over
Time to go back to work.
Our weather is slowly changing for the less hot as well. It cannot come soon enough.

That stupice may get a nod next season...
ReplyDeleteThey are the size of golf-balls. We can them with skins-on. We cut them in half and stew them, then hot-pack into quarts. If you are OK with that or use them to make juice then they are a good choice. If you insist on stewed tomatoes with no skins then their small size is a huge disadvantage.
DeleteI have New Zealand whites in a colony. Four does, one buck. Six nest boxes, so they can choose. A three gallon metal chicken water system. Hay feeder, Pellet feeder. With the colony system I can go away for a few days, and not worry. I have a dog. the does can get away from the nest boxes, And not worry about the kits. They have a 4 by 12 foot pen. A sheet metal panel underneath to clean out the pen. Woody
ReplyDeleteHave you had any issues with the does not getting along?
DeleteIf you keep the buck with the does all the time you must be swimming in rabbits.
Hi Joe Start with does from the same family. The buck goes in for a week. 27 days later put in the nest boxes. The does must stay together. I don't push them, a litter every 4 months or so. You do know Mister TB does not approve. but that's what's needed during a collapse. Beef hamburger is close to ten bucks, dollars that is. The Amish near me have buyers from Iowa. I sell some to them. Woody
