Is Trump's jihad against Kimmel a smoke-screen?
"Pay no attention to the yellow handkerchief I am holding with my left hand..." said the magician as he prestidigitated with his right.
Choking back Pharma advertising on the major networks would collapse network profits since almost 100% of Pharma advertising revenue falls straight to the bottom line.
Companies that are losing money have to cut costs. A substantial percentage of the cost of broadcasting is in the form of salaries. Shows that are losing money have to cut payroll. Contracts with stars probably don't have "hardship" clauses that allow the networks to reduce pay but they do have terms to terminate employment.
If networks are deprived of their cash-cow then they have to rationalize. They can no longer push unpopular agendas that are not organically supported.
Kimmel is the yellow handkerchief.
Autism
Some of it has been linked to Vitamin D deficiency in kids.
Vitamin D is important for brain development.
Nearly all commercial "cow milk" is Vitamin D fortified. Trendy parenting removed cow milk from children's diets and now give them "oat milk" and "almond milk" and "kale smoothies" because "cow milk" is old-fashioned and everything new is better than anything old.
Feral kids don't drink any kind of milk. They drink grape and orange flavored sugar water.
Kids used to play outside in the sun. Now they stay indoors and play on electronic toys. If they DO go outside, their mothers trowel sun-screen over every exposed inch of skin.
Finally, children with pigmented skin absorb less UV light and make less Vitamin D per hour when outside. Another complication is that many ethnic groups with pigmented skin lose the ability to digest lactose at a very early age. "Cow milk" gives them diarrhea.
I don't know why my son developed a mild form of autism. I know prior to age 2, he was bright and verbalized his thoughts in short sentences. It took a visit to my Mom, who noticed he didn't engage as much and was much quieter. She asked if we had noticed - we were too close to the subject and didn't notice the change. We were offended - nothing was wrong with my son.
ReplyDeleteMom was right. We decided to take him to a specialist, who determined his behavior was on the autism spectrum. Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD). My son wasn't nearly as verbal and pointed at rather than verbally using his words. No physical abnormlities - he just wasn't the same person at all.. The thought at the time was that too many vaccines given at the same time might have been a cause. Countries which do not have the same inoculations demonstrate a lower cause of autism. But conclusive evidence - not certain.
Now 28, he is extremely set in his ways. Changing his mind is nearly impossible. Very hard to employ (Employers like workers who do they job they way THEY like). My son does occasional work at a local sports arena handling the snack bar orders. He has brilliant abilities - last night, he told me that September 24 2024 was a Tuesday instantaneously - he was right. Very little hesitation - he knew the date. He is the only person i know who can do that. We love our son very much. He is much more engaged but after we are gone, we worry if he will have people look after him after we are gone.
Its all in Gods hands. I have faith that this will happen.
This chap seems to have stopped blogging but if you go back through his posts you'll find lots of fascinating stuff on Vit D.

the supplemental Vitamin D container in a 150,000 gallon per day plant is less than 5 gallons. IIRC they don't use one per week.
ReplyDeleteJerry
VitD is one piece of the puzzle.
ReplyDeleteAdd in the prevalence of seed oils/lack of animal fats during pregnancy and early infant development when brains and nerve cells are growing and need the cholesterol building blocks (that the seed oils substitutes do not provide) to develop those cells and their interconnections in the brain properly...
The vaccines or the number of vaccines children get a one time doesn’t help. Pediatricians routinely give preschool age children, infants on up, four and five shots at a time. The number of shots children get before 18 is up past 60 or 70 compared to the dozen when I was a child. One of my grandchildren was a happy engaging little boy until he received five shots one week. Within the month he stopped talking, stopped smiling and he’s been on the spectrum for years. He’s now eleven. Of twelve Grandchildren, three are Autistic. No Autism in previous two generations. This cannot be discounted.
ReplyDeleteThere's only one way to clear this up, and Florida is making it possible; letting the PARENTS decide whether to vaccinate their kids instead of the GOVERNMENT MANDATING IT! This will create a de facto control group to compare autism rates between vaccinated and unvaccinated children. This will undoubtedly create a choir of wailing Karens who thing that unvaccinated children will be a threat to their vaccinated children. All I can say to Karen is that if she thinks an unvaccinated kid getting sick will infect her vaccinated kid, then the poison stuck in her kid's arm is obviously not a vaccine...
DeleteERJ, I saw the issue of Late Night Talk show hosts discussed when Colbert was notified that he his contract was not being renewed. In point of fact, all late night talk shows have been losing audience (and thus money) while their expenses have been going up. It has been posited that the cancellation of Kimmel was a way to eliminate this expense. Given that (currently) the show is not being shown on a number of stations, the can is merely being kicked down the road.
ReplyDeleteApparently, his contract expires May 2026. At best this is a 8 month reprieve.
I am a 60 year old female, autistic, and I drank milk at every meal. Still drink a lot and go into the sun. There are no easy answers to autism, and by the way? I like the way I am. I wouldn't change.
ReplyDeleteYou’re obviously high functioning. No slam, just fact.
ReplyDeleteYes. Except for the fact that many people break off friendships with me because I say what I think and I'm not a people pleaser. I have a very high IQ and dislike stupid people. I am not saying there is anything wrong with looking for a cure, because so many peoples' lives have been so painfully constrained, just pointing out that there is not one easy answer--Vitamin D, Tylenol, vax--to explain this condition. And again, while I know I would have an easier life without it, this is who I am and I don't want to change. It's the rest of you who should change! (semi-serious)
Delete"I say what I think and I'm not a people pleaser." I getcha, Krab! I was born in New York and am a retired military sailor. "People pleasing is NOT in my resume! You sound like you're doing just fine to me!
