Walking down the driveway to check for mail

The butterfly glade |

White Pines in the background |
We got a quarter-inch of rain in the last 24 hours.
First cucumber blossoms
 |
The vines showed male blossoms for the last three days |
 |
Here is the first female blossom that I have seen this year. As you can see, this plant is supported by the bamboo tops. |
Nicotiana rustica "Lemonka"
 |
Incredibly short-season. Ready to pick and cure. There is enough time to squeeze in a second crop of something. |
First corn tassels of the season
 |
Mountain Morado corn |
 |
And what do I spy with my little eyes? A tassel! |
This is a very short-season corn. I expected the plants to be larger before they tasseled.
Ughhhh I think I can feel the humidity right over the internet Joe.
ReplyDeleteDo you use the nicotiana as a pesticide or for gifts to friends who are smoking?
ReplyDeleteI am completely ignorant of the ATF regulations (the T standing for Tobacco). Since I am a very conservative guy who would not do well in prison, I would never consider gifting to any of my family members who chew mint-flavored tobacco products.
DeleteAt this point it is an exercise in "Can I do it?" with a secondary aim of having a supply of home-grown insecticide just-in-case.
