Not everything that happens around here hits the blog.

One of the family, let's call him Church Mouse*, found himself between apartments. Church Mouse's lease ended in early July and his new apartment would not be available until mid-August.

With Southern Belle, Handsome Hombre and Quicksilver in Florida, it was easy to supply a room. When they came back, Church Mouse got bumped** and he moved to a tent on our front porch. Not a great solution but it was safe and quiet and met his very minimal needs.

Last night one of his co-workers was bitching about the heat and the piss-poor air conditioning in his apartment. Church Mouse didn't have much sympathy. A member of higher management overheard Church Mouse respond, "Technically, I have been homeless for the last month and am living in a tent..."

Thirty minutes later Church Mouse had been moved into a motel for the duration. Apparently, there are little discussed discretionary funds that are available to higher management and they decided that Church Mouse merited a bit of looking after.

A. Church Mouse must have really impressed higher management with his work-ethic. That is not something they would have done for a person who just went through the motions.

B. It tickles me that some managers can get off-the-dime and take care of their people. Like they say, Karma can be a bitch or she can be a Queen, depending on who is looking into the mirror.

*Because of his work schedule and his personality, he was almost invisible and he was extremely quiet.

** SB and HH are paying rent. CM is a guest. We deliberately had a two-tier arrangement where Quicksilver was the most protected.
