The difference between "Train Wreck' and "Interesting...." is attitude

I have been without "wheels" for almost a week. A family member's vehicle crapped-out and they are gainfully employed. I am not. So I loaned out my truck to give them some time to sort out what they are going to do.

That resulted in me spending more time in Eaton Rapids than I had planned. Not a bad thing, just not what I had planned.

In parallel, Mrs ERJ  was offered a volunteer opportunity that she is well suited for. Taking on the new opportunity absorbed much of her time and I back-filled caring for Quicksilver.

Well...today Mrs ERJ had a lull and I had the use of her wheels from 2:00 onward.

Technology hates me

Mrs ERJ lined the back of her beloved Vinnie Van Gogh 2 with cardboard. I loaded in shovels and Bald Cypress seedlings, dog-proof raccoon traps, impact drivers and.....

I started Vinnie and put him into reverse, and immediately ran into the garage door which had inexplicably started to descend. The noise was horrendous. The door was bent like a potato chip and refused to go up-or-down.

As Brigid has been known to write, "When brute force fails, perhaps the problem was that you did not use enough of it?" Brigid...smart lady!

More force was applied after un-potato-chipping the door and Vinnie and I were free!

Hastening toward The Property, Vinnie and I encountered an impaired driver. Shoulder. Oncoming traffic lane. Weaving. Driving 10 to 15mph below the speed limit. I declined to pass him. Traffic stacked up behind me.

He stopped at M-50. Then he proceeded. Normally, folks do that when oncoming traffic is not a hazard...but not our drinkin' buddy. Horns. Screeching of tires. At least two pairs of underwear worn by drivers on M-50 were soiled.

And when my boots hit the ground...

All my stress vaporized.

Approximately 55 Bald Cypress seedlings went into the ground. I inspected the grafts to see how they were doing and some of them are pushing buds. The pecans I planted are unmolested by squirrels so far. The motor on the riding mower turned over so the battery was not dead.

Things are going to be OK. I expect to get my truck back tomorrow. I will mow grass. I will till the garden. The days will continue to get warmer. The rain will fall.

Things are going to be OK.

  2. "Funny" how things, just seem to work out, EH?
I've been so deep into the "shyte" that there was NO WAY OUT, DOOMED. Then a little bit of prayer and somehow, it "magicly" evaporates. Funny how that works, EH?
I'm a primitive, nuts and bolts kind of guy, I tend to beat my head against that rock wall, so I'm ALWAYS amazed at how some things, just work out. The Lord is "funny" that way.
