Fine Art Tuesday

Edvard Axel Rosenberg was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1858 and died in 1934.

His artwork captured the special quality of the low, slanting light of winters in Scandinavia.

Thanks to Lucas Machias for recommending this artist.

  2. What attractive stuff.

Another time of year when the light is attractive on the water in northern climes is in July soon after sunrise. In my school holidays I'd often get up then to go to the harbour for casual work. Why the hours? The arrival of a "steamer" was governed by the tide and the daylight. If she wanted to berth I had to be there or I'd not be paid.

Time and Tide wait for no boy.
