    1. There has also been speculation that the drug used for the planned execution may have been tampered with.

There used to be a three-drug protocol. The first was a sedative which made hitting a vein easier. Then two different toxins were administered IV.

Political pressure caused some drug companies to refuse to sell USP certified drugs for that purpose.

It begs the question, why do drugs used to end life have to be certified for purity and safety? There is nothing "safe" about executions. Hell, they could have pulled fentanyl from police impound and used that...or KCl that is sold in 50 pound bags at the farm supply elevator.

    2. Agreed on all points. There is clearly an additional agenda at work. If quick and painless death were the solution, I know a veterinarian that can take down a horse in 60-seconds with nary a neigh. More than one person has since volunteered (rimshot) to show up at the jail with their own buckshot and not even charge the state! One shell to the coconut and it's messy, but it's over. Hose the yard down, I mean, really. I think that's what will happen, firing squads make a comeback. We can hand-load that stuff if Remington doesn't want to sell it to us (they're based in NY, aren't they?)
What's baffling to me... as a former resident of the communist state of New York, I was discussing this very issue w/ a friend of mine from there. His retort after the failed execution was just... unbelievable. I can't fathom for the life of me how a person from one state feels justified in telling another state how they can/should treat their criminal murders?
This is the crux of our national issue, in a fractal.
To expect such large populations to become or be homogenous on such an array of diverse issues is stupid. The nation must either break up or return to strong states and a weak federal government.
      Which won't happen.
So when's the shewtin gonna start, is anyone's guess.

    3. It's not just people from other states - it's also people from other countries.

Some European countries refuse to do business with a company that supplies a anything used in capital punishment, which is why the big drug companies won't be involved anymore.

    4. Do they do business with the companies that supply the drugs for Canada's MAID service?

  3. Anyone who has done confined space entry training knows how dangerous low-oxygen environments are and how quickly and quietly the victim goes down and eventually dies.

Take a full face mask, a bottle of pure nitrogen, a regulator, and a few hoses. Crank the N2 flow high enough to displace all the room air and the condemned will fall asleep in a few minutes (and any 'screams' or 'thrashing in pain' are pure theatre).. Put them on a cardiac monitor and wait until a few minutes of flat line then disconnect.

No medical skills needed, and no Rx meds either.
