No apple picking for Joe today

No climbing on ladders today. Steady winds of 23mph implies gusts up to 45mph.

Today will be spent watching Quicksilver, digging potatoes, picking tomatoes and minor carpentry.

There is a possibility of frost early Sunday due to cold ambient and low windspeed. Low-lying areas that experience breaks in the cloud-cover in the early morning are most at-risk. Cold air flows downhill and forms "puddles" when there is no wind to mix it with upper-level air that is not chilled by the radiant cooling of surfaces.

  1. I can't believe you said the 'F' word?! I've (allegedly) got 6 more weeks before that's a threat.

  3. First weekend of September down here is Whitewing Dove season. I purchased my south Texas Rain Dance ticket by purchasing a hunting license with Whitewing Dove hunting stamp. Gaurantees rainy forecast - it nearly always rains the 1st weekend of September and this weekend will continue that trend.

  4. I was just reminiscing about being in South Carolina in February where one day it was 70° and the next day a blizzard of epic proportion struck the state. We weren't even talking about climate change back then.

  5. ERJ, today truly appears to be the last day of Summer here in New Home 2.0 in the high 80's. Tomorrow it drops into the 70's and from their on, mid-70's to low 80's with more than one chance of rain.
