I clicked on a link that another blogger had posted and it took me to a Progressive talking about the Lindsay Clancy trial. The Progressive identifies as "a non-practicing White".

I am willing to consider the possibility. Presumably, that means that victims (or their families) can amputate the right hand of shop-lifters from those communities and castrate rapists.

Jonesing for a 6.5mm Creedmoor
I don't need another firearm.
I do have the dies to reload this caliber.
One of the Creedmoor's selling points is its mild recoil. The Ammo.com comparison claims that the .308 Win generates 50% more recoil energy than the Creedmoor. Lower recoil from "factory ammo" is a major selling point when introducing kids to shooting.
Maybe I can talk Handsome Hombre into buying one.
Inflation
Another consideration is that firearms hold value better than most other items I could purchase. Inflation driven by fuel prices is accelerating. And it isn't just at the fuel-pump. Many of our gadgets come from eastern Asia and they are being slammed by oil availability MUCH more severely than we are. Low availability drives up price of production and it will get passed along.
Hold onto your shorts, we are likely to be in for a wild ride.

ReplyDeleteIf you're interested in reduced recoil, I've used H4875 powder to load some reduced or youth loads in the past. H4875 is unique in that you can easily reduce the load to 60% of max and it is still safe.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm remembering it right, I loaded it in a 243 Win, and according to the book the velocity from dropped from about 2900 to 2100fps. A 243 doesn't have much recoil to begin with, but the recoil did drop. The zero also dropped an inch or two at 100 yds. so I didn't have to change anything.
I went through that phase. "Soft" 150 grain, 30 cal bullets like Hornady SST or Sierra Gamekings. Reduced loads of H-4895 or even Alliant 2400.
DeleteThen I swung the other way. One bullet and load for everything. 165 grain boat-tail, soft-points pushed along at about 2700fps by IMR 4895.
Complexity increases the chances of mistakes being made.
Those dingalings are laughable. Imagine the hubris of seeking to change thousands of years of language.
ReplyDeleteJoe, I've been seeing lots of lightly used 6.5 Creed arms on the market. I think it due to hordes of users chasing the next big thing. That happened to be 6.5 Creedmore starting about ten years ago. Now those safe queens are flooding the market.
I have enough calibers as it is. But if I were to want another rifle, I would go with a flat shooting 7mm.
The 6.5 Creedmoor gets a lot of hate online. I don't understand why. It's a terrific rifle. I guess it's the same as arguing about gas engines.
ReplyDelete6.5 Creedmoor is a fantastic round. I've cleanly taken a few deer with it. I normally hunt with a 308 here on my property just because it's my go to round. If your going to reload the 6.5 Creedmoor, there is quite the assortment of bullets & weights from light varmint to heavy 160 grain loadings.
ReplyDeleteIf I did get the rifle, I would probably mimic the ballistics of the Hornady 129 grain "American Whitetail' ammo. Supposedly 2950fps and it uses Varget. It is nice to know that your zero will not change if your ammo gets lost and you have to buy replacements at the local gas station or farm supply store.

As Islam says once Islam owns the place they do not retreat.
But it is sad how American law is so divided between the protected classes (often thugs) and the law abiding. If I was to jump over a McDonalds counter and start beating the crew, I'd have severe law enforcement and Court judgements against me.
"non-practicing white"? Just how low an option of yourself and worse your family's values do you have. Self-shame used to be for failure to abide decent morals not for being born "the wrong skin color".
Caliber of hunting rifle used to be how dangerous the game was (no 243 for Cap Buffalo unless you're a Darwin Award), what kind of terrain you're shooting as a 6.5 Creedmoor's long range advantages in my often brushy and very hilly area over a plain jane 30-30, 243, and so on is marginal.
So far in my few decades of filling the freezer no deer has sneered at my old school calibers. Last one was a 303 British out of a Mk4 non-sporterized.
When I worked in Billings MT, I was into Iron Ram shooting, and 50 caliber BMG rifles were popular. They also were very heavy builds as not to dislocate your shoulder-spine.
Wouldn't shoot a New England Deer (SPLAT verses run and laydown) with a 50 cal BMG as I'd wonder how many dozens of trees after the deer it would blast along. I have neighbors within a half mile.

Delete.303 Brit is nearly identical, ballistically, to the .308 Winchester. Either will kill any deer in North America as long as you hit them in the right place and use bullets that are appropriate for the game.
DeleteExactly how do practice being a Non-White. Socks up to knees, pants down to ankles, long sleeves with gloves and a sign over your head stating I am a non-practing white person? I'm as pale as you can get but I think I'll buy a sign saying "I am a practicing black person" so ignore my white skin?
