Fine Art Tuesday

Robert McLellen Bateman was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1930 and is still living in Canada.

Famous for his paintings of wildlife which are done in amazing detail and in with believable backgrounds.

It is an unwritten rule among the better artists that seagulls always be painted in pairs. As the old saw goes, "One good tern deserves another"

Another tip of the hat to 10x25mm for recommending this artist

Note to reader, posting will be light. The power cord for my laptop is dying. A new one is ordered and is expected Monday.

  1. Excellent artist, thank you for posting his work. Wow! That two bird picture was a groaner. Very well done. Laptop woes are woes indeed.

  3. Bateman has a high school named after him in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Abbotsford also named schools after Chief Dan George, Terry Fox and Rick Hanson -- two of those being cross country heroes.

  4. Incredible artist, too bad he didn't go to the school of duct tape and bananas.

  5. That first painting. Absolutely not what you would want appearing out of the mist or dust in front of you.

  7. I never understood the appeal of Bateman. I have always felt his work was flat, colorless, and boring although some had good design. He produced a lot of prints and maybe he was geared to that market. There are better artists. LM
