The package weighed 493 grams. The plugs were small, probably 72-cell trays and they were very moist.
I was going to plant them directly into the row but decided to put them into the hospital instead.

| I moved them into a 50-cell tray and left an empty cell on every side for improved air flow and light penetration. I will give them a few days of this and then, on a cloudy day, give them some exposure to the sun/UV. |
Considering the abuse at the hands of the US Post Office, I am very pleased at how they look. It will take a few days to see if they suffered permanent trauma, but at this point I am very optimistic.
Yesterday morning I ordered 75 strawberry plants and I sure hope the USPO isn't who delivers them.---ken
ReplyDeleteThe seller of this item reached out to me. He explained that he USPS reports the item as "received" when they print the label. I assume they are using USPS software.
DeleteThe computer-geek might print out five days worth of shipping labels because they don't want to get their hands dirty. That misleads the customers who follow the "tracking" links.
An organization following "Lean Manufacturing" would print out enough labels each day so that there was a 25%-to-50% chance they would all get used up. A 50% chance of "success" (i.e. meeting expectation) is considered the sweet-spot for motivation.
