In general, there is no art or craft a Japanese artist will not push beyond normal "excellence". Something in the culture must supply this drive. not just their own traditions, they will take the best the west has to offer , and take it two steps further. Japanese Art Deco for example. The mind boggles.
I do not posses the ability to control my hands to such a fine degree. I've tried a few fine-wood-working type things... I'm more the bull-china-shop type person.
