It has been a warm summer

Accuweather predicts that we will get a break from the heat

We are finally looking at a break in the summer heat.

I assume that these maps are based on IR satellite images because of the level of detail.
According to the Integrated Pest Management website hosted by Michigan State University, the orchard ten miles northwest of me measured 2634 degree days since March first.  How does that compare to normal?

We are more than 14 days ahead of normal.  That might be why my Liberty apple trees are dumping all of their fruit.

The "McIntosh" type apples seem to be the ones that rush to ripeness when it is warmer than usual.  The other types of apples seem less affected.
