What's UP?

What is the Michigan UP? It is the Upper Peninsula where men are men, the women are purty and so are the dogs.

Quicksilver has a new favorite video. She loves dogs.

Copper Dog 150, 2020 The video has a 13 minute run-time but I shaved off the first three minutes to get to the racing.

Dogs! Excitement! Beautiful country! More dogs. What is not to like?

  1. ERJ, I have to admit that Michigan remains a complete enigma to me. Other than a single stop this Summer at the Detroit airport, I have never been, although I am reliably told by many how beautiful it is.

On a possibly related side note, Nighean Bhan's fiancee is from Michigan originally (near the Illinois border). Who knows, I may make it up there someday.

    1. Just as a point of detail, Michigan and Illinois don’t share a border. There’s a stretch of Indiana between Michigan and Illinois.

  2. This race is a major event here. There are mushers from all over the country, including Alaska , and Canada that come to run it. You can drive to the places that the trails cross the roads to keep up with it. Most of the trails are old railroad grades from the mining days. If you want to come watch it make your motel reservations WAY FAR ahead as it is a popular event. ---ken

  3. I spent the first half of my life in Alabama, got displaced to Miami recently moved back to LA (lower Alabama).
Made a RV trip to Canada as so as the COVID restrictions were dropped.
Came back through part of the U.P.
It's full of people that if they lived near me would be called Redneck. Very cool back woods kinda people. If I had to move north I think that would be home.
