As has been observed before, that eventually settles out to 'equally miserable'.

There is an amazing number of people who stand to lose bigly from this societal shift, and yet do not set it that way.Aggiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11089648434324058300noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2970975545475697571.post-90108312580985900402020-06-12T17:13:45.403-04:002020-06-12T17:13:45.403-04:00I'm not sure how much of their anger is "...I'm not sure how much of their anger is "Dog in the Manger" and how much is "Bait and Switch". Pundits looked out, saw that college-educated people who owned their homes lived comfortable stable lives, and promptly reversed cause and effect. Society pushed everyone into college for SOME kind of four-year degree and made it far too easy to purchase a home beyond their means. Rampant inflation has driven the cost of college AND housing thru the roof.

The youngest generation is now deeply in debt for college loans they may need a lifetime to pay out but the well-paying jobs their grandparents have aren't available in the volume needed for EVERY current graduate to get a job.

Low document ('liar loans') were developed to allow people with variable income get mortgages but orginally required 30+% down payments so the buyer had skin in the game if they defaulted. They were then massively expanded to the extremes of 120% ARM mortgages with 5 year ballon payments that all but forced that housing prices always increase plus priced new buyers out of the market.

Between student debt and massive inflation in housing prices youth today don't see a path to their grandparent's place in life and they are angry.Rick Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04748076795783834112noreply@blogger.com
