They are relatively cheap, in part, because they come with much deferred maintenance AND because they are so abundant.Eaton Rapids Joehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09102166969915526172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2970975545475697571.post-31706541267219764822019-12-05T08:16:51.704-05:002019-12-05T08:16:51.704-05:00I rode a bus across Lansing to get to Lansing Comm...I rode a bus across Lansing to get to Lansing Community College and later MSU. In their attempt to sell it to the public, they used as their shining example the light rail system of Portland, OR which had always been a money loser.

The people did not want it, so the city commissioners went and did it anyway. They really wanted their toy train. They spent close hundreds of millions of dollars on it. It only goes a few places. That money could have bought literally a thousand new buses, enabling a great expansion of routes and longer operating hours. But no - they wanted their shiny choo choo train.George Truehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17352709031834067303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2970975545475697571.post-89309682278879144842019-12-04T12:32:49.353-05:002019-12-04T12:32:49.353-05:00I’ve noticed a “class attitude”about bus riding. There weren’t many if any school busses so I rode the bus to High School ( Catholic school) and rode the bus to work. Getting home from work after the busses had stopped running for the night could be problematic. The system has gotten a lot a lot worse since then.
