It's always interesting to me to see some of the 'primative' tools depicted in the paintings. Like the level to assist the well in one of them today. I saw something similar in a construction video, guy was using a simple crane to hoist logs up and around his cabin.

Like Anon above, I do find the representation of "Old" technology in these paintings fascinating.
