"Just drop them off"
The address is a trailer park.
Free food or free alarm-clocks?
I am not the brightest guy in the world but there is a pretty good chance this is a prank. Either that, or somebody is starting a cock-fighting ring.

| If Charlie Brown had lived in West Texas |

My money is on free food. We see free rosters advertised on marketplace around here sometimes but my wife won't let me get them. She's concerned about them being a disease vector. A lot of people started keeping chickens in the last few years, but there's no use for extra rosters beyond food and a lot of people don't have the know how or fortitude to take them to freezer camp. A little more than half of our chicks turn out to be male. We grow them out for about six months and then harvest them. The food is critical for meat quality. Cheap chicken scratch makes them fast and greasy. Gotta feed them a high protein diet for them to be table quality. But poor boys got poor ways. I'd bet a dollar that somebody is turning those avian bachelors into dinner.
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived on the east side of Lansing I had a neighbor who eagerly accepted any game animals that were delivered, live or dead.
ReplyDeleteHe raised pit-bulls.
I laughed at the Charlie Brown image until I remembered my Aunt doing that with lolipops at Christmas many years ago... sigh
ReplyDeleteThere's a guy near me that takes in roosters. I don't know why and he has at least 100 running around but with no hens. Like most situations if there are no girls to wind them up they all get along. ---ken
